Ngātea Ashes Wall
Two 80 vault purpose built walls for the accommodation of ashes have been constructed as part of the Hugh Hayward Domain Settlers Park development, Orchard Road, Ngātea.
The vaults are in vertical columns of four. Vaults will be issued in a sequential numbered order which will follow the left to right flow of the columns. Each vault can accommodate up to two ashes containers. The vaults can be purchased for a single ashes placement only or for a double ashes placement (placed separately or together at the same time). There is a maximum reservation limit of one vault per person. A couple can purchase one vault each.
The criteria for purchasing an ashes vault is that the person must have been a resident or a ratepayer of the district for the past twelve months (immediately prior to date of death, if applicable). OR has resided in the District for a continuous period of at least ten years during their lifetime. (If the deceased is a child younger than twelve months, and is of a parent that qualifies as a resident or ratepayer then an 'out of district fee' does not apply to the child). If you live outside this area an application to Council is required and an Out of District fee will apply.
The plaque is made of granite and the size of the plaque is 360mm x 230mm which provides sufficient area to accommodate two inscriptions if required. Final Plaque layout is subject to Council approval.

An Application to Reserve an Ashes Vault will need to be completed to reserve an ashes vault in the Ngātea Ashes Wall.
