Food Premises
Establishing a food business
If you are thinking of opening your own food business in the Hauraki District you need to understand and follow an appropriate plan (template food control plan) or programme (national programme) under the Food Act 2014. The plan or programme that will apply to you depends on the nature of your food business.
Once you have a plan or programme in place and have completed an application to register your food business, you will need to get everything checked (verified) to ensure you are making and selling safe and suitable food. Each step of this process is explained in more detail on the relevant pages - see the links below.
- Step 1: Understand the rules and create a plan to make food safe (food control plans and national programmes)
- Step 2: Complete an application to register your food business
- Step 3: Get checked (verification)
