Enrol to Vote

Vote 2025 timeline

Are you enrolled to vote?

All resident electors and nonresident ratepayer electors on the electoral roll are eligible to vote.

If you are not enrolled you have until 31 July 2025 to appear on the local electoral roll. After this date call 0800 36 76 56.

Who can enrol?

You’re eligible to enrol and vote if:

  • you are 18 years or older
  • you currently live in Aotearoa New Zealand
  • you are a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, or hold an open-ended resident visa
  • have been living in New Zealand continuously for 12 months or at some time in your life.

Non-resident ratepayers

If you're a ratepayer in Hauraki, but don't live here, you may be entitled to enrol to vote on the non-resident ratepayer roll. Companies, businesses and societies that are ratepayers, may also nominate one elector to vote on their behalf, provided they reside outside of the Hauraki District Council area.

If you think you may be eligible to enrol or to nominate a person for the non-resident ratepayer electoral roll, you will need to complete an Enrolment Form for Ratepayer Electors.

Enrolment pack

Everyone on the electoral roll was sent an enrolment update pack by mail in April 2025.

If you didn’t receive an enrolment pack it means you’re not enrolled to vote or your details are not up to date. Check now to make sure you can vote.

If your details are correct you don't need to do anything.

If you need to update your details or change the roll you’re on, do it straight away to make sure your voting papers are sent to you.
