Māori roll or General roll

If you are on the Māori roll you will vote for candidates in the Māori ward or constituency.

If you are on the general roll you will vote for candidates in the general ward or constituency.

No matter which roll you’re on, you will choose from the same list of candidates when making your vote for mayor.

Special Votes

If you haven’t received your voting pack by 23 September or have changed address recently, maybe on an unpublished roll, a non-resident ratepayer, or for some other reason cannot make a vote, you may be entitled to make a special vote.

Special voting packs can be posted out to eligible electors by phoning 0800 922 822, or requested online from Election Services and are also available from our Council service centres.

Each special vote pack contains:

• a declaration - this must be completed, signed and witnessed for the special vote to be counted
• a special voting document
• a voter guide - this has instructions on returning the vote and also a photo and candidate profile statement for each candidate, including the Waikato Regional Council candidates
• a small white envelope for the completed voting document
• an orange envelope with the Electoral Office address - the white voting document envelope and the declaration will be sealed in this and either posted or dropped into a ballot box

Note: The envelopes, declaration and voting document have the same pack number on them and should not be mixed with parts of another pack.
